Relapse ( 2006 )
Suffocation are back and, while their 2004 ‘Souls to Deny’ wasn’t completely the comeback the fans were hoping for, this new album sees the legendary band in their prime. Extremely well played and with superior production, ‘Suffocation’ is certainly above their previous effort.
They seem to be absolutely sure of what they’re doing and the chemistry between members is definitely working well. Suffocation make the most of the experience and musicianship; in the Pro Tools generation of overlapping and over tracking, they stand out in sheer contrast for their “organic” death metal, something fans of the genre are starving for.
If you were feeling a bit nostalgic of the perfect combination of brutality and technical death, you don’t need to be any longer, Suffocation delivers that and much more in 2006.
