Candlelight ( 2006 )
Ever since their debut In the Halls of Awaiting, I’ve considered Insomnium
one of the most talented bands of the Finnish scene.
Above The Weeping World is their third album and it might very well be the one that brings them some much deserved recognition outside the boundaries of our genre.
The tracks are a bit more immediate and more up-tempo than in their previous works, while maintaining the melancholic atmosphere that characterizes them. Fear not, you still can find long beautiful pieces like the 10 minute long In the Groove of Death, but tracks like Devoid of Caring, Drawn to Black or the awesome Mortal Share (you´ve got a classic there!) are incredibly groovy.
If you´re a fan of atmospheric melody with deathy vocals and beautiful acoustic passages, with a dash of Dark Tranquillity, you MUST NOT miss this band, they are truly special.
