Season Of Mist ( 2006 )
I knew nothing about these French guys until a few weeks ago, but a couple of tracks from this album were enough to get me totally interested in their music. ‘What hell is about’ is a combination of death and thrash with some added industrial brushstrokes, all well written and performed. However, what I’m most impressed with and where, in my opinion, Dagoba stamp their unique signature, is in the little passages that completely unannounced and unexpected appear in the middle of very heavy tracks and turn a good tune into something more complex and ultimately more satisfying for the listener. Both growls and clean vocals are excellent, the drums very powerful and the guitars crushing. Dagoba are undoubtedly a force to reckon with, luckily we’ll be able to see them live as they’ve joined Sepultura and In Flames for their European tour. Can’t wait!
