Spikefarm ( 2006 )
It’s taken Kalmah two years to write this album and it’s proven to do them the world of good. From the very first chords of opener ‘Defeat’ it’s obvious this is a new band, then the vocals kick in and make you jump, what happened? This is freaking great! They’re the deathiest vocals you’ve ever heard from them and they sound totally awesome. This is a much harder, meaner Kalmah without losing an atom of their melodic sense. Even the cover reveals a different and much darker mood. Tons of riffs and great solos (even some acoustic moments), not a filler in sight, the drums are absolutely brutal and the production is spotless.
Something pissed these guys off. Well, bless that something because as a result the Finns have delivered their best album to the date. Believe me, it was totally worth the long wait.
