Hatesphere - To The Nines
Napalm ( 2009 )
Danish Hatesphere are back after some troubled times, which saw almost the entire band leaving and, quite frankly, questioned the future of the band as a reckoning force within the genre. I am pleased to say that To The Nines will definitely crown the Danes as the kings of angro-thrash. This album delivers all the energy, riffs and melody in the cohesive way Hatesphere have always been know for, from start to finish.
New vocalist Jonathan "Joller" Albrechtsen does a wonderful job on the growling front, not an easy task filling in Jacob Bredhal's shoes, but he pulls it off with honours. The same can be said for bassist Mixen Lindberg and drummer Dennis Buhl, who ensure a solid rhythm section, and guitarist Jakob Haagen Nyholm. But most of all, hats off to guitarist Peter "Pepe" Lyse Hansen, who clearly has been carrying the Hatesphere torch and has managed to recruit such talented musicians as well as keep the Hatesphere essence fresh and strong.
This album recaptures the no nonsense approach that distinguished their sound to begin with and which I love, all wrapped up in exceptional production handed by Tue Madsen.
