Nasum - Shift
Burning Heart ( 2004 )
Although up until now, I've never really listened to Nasum. I had already written them off as one of those bands that play 1000 miles an hour for no particular reason, and I personally hate blast-beats in metal. When this album arrived, I decided to give it at least one spin. I was suprised to hear a blend of old Entombed (Left Hand Path/Clandestine era) and maybe a hint of Gorefest. There's still a lot of blasting on this cd,(24 tracks longest track is 2:36) but some of the melodic parts are quite groovy if you know what I mean. It balances out nicely, and if you toned down the blasts, this album would definitely be one of my favorites this year. Well worth a listen in any case.
