Numen - Galdutako Itxaropenaren Eresia
GOI ( 2002 )
Black metal from the Basque Country with touches of folk instruments, atmospheric sounds and stories based on Basque mythology, something that sung in Basque, amaizing as it may seem, sounds totally natural. Galdutako Itxaropenaren Eresia (meaning Lost Hope Song) is the band's debut album and considering this is a young band signed to a very small label, the production is remarkable to say the least. Truly original and free in their creativity. One hopes that Numen will set the mark for other bands from Spanish territory that to my liking are too stuck in the legacy of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, not that there's anything wrong with that but a harder metal with splashes of our very ancient roots sound certainly more refreshing.
