Lacuna Coil
- Comalies
Century Media ( 2002 )
With Lacuna Coil being one of my favourite bands ever, I had great expectations with this album and it’s fair to say that it surpassed all of them. Comalies is pure Coil from start to end but more beautiful and atmospheric, more perfectly composed and more emotionally powerful than ever. With an impeccable production once more at the hands of Waldemar Sorych, one gets the feeling that every track is exactly as it should be, nothing more, nothing less. The Italians have put in practice the great lessons that simplicity is, give each track what the track needs without giving in to temptation to dressed it up with unnecessary arrangements. The result is a diversity of musical moods with the right balance between more dynamic tracks like ‘Unspoken’ or ‘Daylight Dancer’ and slower tracks like my personal favourite ‘The Ghost Woman and The Hunter’ (Cristina’s voice is absolutely breathtaking) and even the somehow more experimental ‘Angel’s Punishment’. Very few bands achieve impressing so many fans of different styles and chances are you’ll be one of them.
