Eternal Oath
- Righteous
G.A.R. ( 2002 )
Despite being practically unknown in the UK (something to do with being signed to the wrong labels) Eternal Oath have been writing music for quite a while now and this album sounds as assertive and confident as only a band with experience could produce.
Recorded in the famous studios Fredman of Gothenburg it could be mistaken by just another melodic death metal band, far from the truth. Eternal Oath manage to combine melodic death with atmospheric metal in a very impressive way.
You might find parts reminiscent of Opeth, perhaps Dark Tranquillity and even their confessed main influence Paradise Lost but ultimately Eternal Oath have their unique sound and identity.
For this album they have also incorporated splashes of female vocals which with just the right amount of keyboards add to that atmospheric dimension. ‘The Tears for Time’ and ‘Crown of Emptiness’ being prime example although the opening track ‘Preserve the Emotions’ still remains my favourite.
Quality and freshness in 10 diverse and perfectly executed tracks. Let’s hope their current label makes good use of these talented Swedes.
